Soccer Opens CUSA Play Against Middle Tennessee

JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State soccer team will open Conference USA play by hosting the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Sunday afternoon at the Jax State Soccer Complex. The Gamecocks finished their non-conference schedule, 3-5-2, while the Blue Raiders finished 7-2-2. This will be the fourth conference match between the two teams and the 14th match-up overall.
Jax State has lost the previous three matches against Middle Tennessee. Last year the only difference between the two teams was a penalty kick goal by the Blue Raiders in a 1-0 win. The Gamecocks last victory came back in 2017, 4-1.Â
The Gamecocks will rely on Rebecca Sierra-Burciaga and Emma Reeder to find some offense early and also rely on Camdyn Magrosky to continue to be a wall in goal. Reeder has scored four goals in the past five games, and Magrosky has 15 saves in just her three starts.
The Blue Raiders attack, which is first in shots (150) and goals scored (20), is led by Ania Denham. Middle Tennessee also has the third best defense in the conference, only allowing 0.91 goals a game.Â
The game will be televised on ESPN+, on Sunday, September 27, at 1:00 pm, at the Jax State Soccer Complex.
