JSU CAREER: 2021: Spent most of the year as a weekend starter for the Gamecocks…17 appearances while making 10 starts on the year…accumulated just over 60 innings on the year third most on the pitching staff…threw a career high 8.0 innings in game one against Tennessee Tech (Mar 27)…accumulated 55 strikeouts on the year, which ranked third most on the staff.
2020: Earned the role of the Friday night starter for the first four weekends of the season…went 5.0 innings or more in all four outings…finished the season with 22.0 innings of work and an earned run average of 3.68…allowed nine runs and posted 15 strikeouts…collected wins over Central Michigan (Feb. 22) and Gardner-Webb (Feb. 28)…went a season-best 6.0 innings in the GWU outing and recorded six strikeouts and scattered four hits and a pair of runs…tallied five strikeouts against Missouri (Feb. 14) on opening day.
2019: Returned from an injury in 2018 to earn a spot in JSU’s weekend rotation over starting with the Florida International series…was in the rotation the final 14 weekends of the season…made 19 appearances on the mound and started 16 games…earned his first start of his career against UAB in Birmingham on February 26, going 4.0 innings…turned in a career-high 7.0 innings of work versus Morehead State on April 28, limiting the Eagles to a run on one hit…went 6.2 innings against the same MSU club in the OVC Championship contest, scattering nine hits and fanning six Eagles…started against Clemson in the NCAA Oxford Regional and lasted 6.2 innings…finished the season with a 3-0 mark on the mound with wins over Morehead State, Austin Peay and MSU.
2018: Earned a medical redshirt after suffering an injury early in the season.
2017: Pitched 4.1 innings in five appearances as a true freshman … allowed 12 earned runs and walked only three batters … did not hit a batter or commit a balk … finished the year with a 24.92 earned run average after surrendering 13 hits.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Tallassee High School and played for Adam Clayton…helped the Tigers to a 26-9 overall mark as a senior and a member of the THS program that claimed the AHSAA Class 5A Region 4 Championship…a two-time All-State selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…claimed Second Team All-State honors in 2016 and honorable mention status in 2015…posted an 8-2 record as senior and tallied 87 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 2016.
PERSONAL: Born on February 19, 1998 in Montgomery, Alabama…the son of Derek and Dorothy Hathcock…majoring in kinesiology at JSU.
