Biography

JSU CAREER:2021: A starter for 52 games for the Gamecocks…started at multiple positions on the season getting starts at second base, shortstop, and getting a start in left field…finished the season with 64 hits on the season which finished second on the team…hit 15 extra base hits on the season…led the team in at bats with 224 on the season…also led the team in runs scored with 39.

2020: A 15-game starter, splitting time third base and second base…ranked third on the team in batting average with a .288 clip after collecting 19 hits…led the club in runs scored with 15 and drove in eight runs…recorded a home run in JSU’s 15-inning, 14-10 win over Kennesaw State (March 10)…turned in a double against UAB (Feb. 19) and a triple in the Ohio Valley Conference series at Eastern Illinois (March 8)…spent the summer playing in the Coastal Plain League with the Savannah Bananas…finished the summer slate with a .303 batting average, 22 RBI and a pair of home runs…named to the 2020 OVC Commissioners Honor Roll.

2019: Continued to be a multi-position player as a sophomore with time split between third base, second base…also saw action in two different outfield spots…played and started in all 61 games for the Gamecocks…finished third on the club in batting average with a .287 average and ranked second on the team in total hits with 75…posted a slugging percentage of .441 and delivered 38 RBI…collected 24 extra base hits, including 14 doubles and six home runs…also tallied four triples…hit a team-best .373 against conference competition to land on the All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team…in 30 OVC contests, he registered 50 hits and scored 31 runs…recorded a .575 slugging mark in league games and had an on-base percentage of .411…collected a season-best four hits against Morehead State on April 28, including a pair of doubles in the contest…drove in four runs versus Belmont on April 13….continued his strong season at the dish into the summer baseball circuit in the New England Collegiate Baseball League…he claimed the league’s batting title after finishing with a .396 average for the Upper Valley Nighthawks… was a triple crown threat with eight homers and 38 RBI, ranking in the top-eight in both categories…his 61 total hits paced all NECBL players, while his 102 totaled bases were good for third in the league….also had three triples, one shy of the league lead, and finished with a 1.106 OPS thanks to a slash line of .396/.444/.662, with the latter two statistics ranking in the top-five in the league.

2018: A true utility player for the Gamecocks as a freshman after playing five different positions throughout the 2018 season, including all three outfield spots in 53 games-played…penciled in at third base in 37 games and played a pair of games at shortstop in Isaac Alexander’s absence…turned in an All-Ohio Valley Conference All-Freshman Team campaign with a .255 batting average and a slugging mark of .407…ranked second on the team in home runs with nine…recorded a trio of home runs in a single game against Morehead State on May 5…also had a pair of doubles in a contest in the OVC Tournament against Eastern Kentucky on May 25…collected a season-high three hits on four occasions and had three RBI in a game three different times…turned in 15 multiple hit games, including 11 two-hit games…had multiple RBI in seven contests and reached base in nine straight games at one point during the season…put together a season-best seven-game hitting streak.

High School: Comes to JSU after a stellar prep career at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa…saw time on the mound and infielder for the Patriots…as a senior at HCHS, helped the club to a 30-9 overall record and claimed the Area 6 Championship and advanced to the semifinals of the state playoffs…HHS was ranked among the best in the Alabama Class 6A rankings by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…led the program to over 130 wins in four seasons, including a 40-win season in 2016 that culminated with the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A State Championship… a member of three consecutive state playoff squads, reaching the AHSAA Baseball Elite Eight in 2014 and the Final Four in 2015…HCHS's run to the 2016 state crown included series wins over Wetumpka, Chilton County, Opelika, Hueytown and Cullman…he delivered the game-winning hit against Cullman in the final game of the championship series and picked up the save in a 1-0 win, inducing 2016 Alabama Mr. Baseball honoree Owen Lowell to fly out to end the contest…named the 6A state tournament most valuable player…earned 2016 ASWA Second Team All-State honors at shortstop after leading the Patriots to the championship….after a solid 2016 campaign, he is ranked as one of the top-25 players in the state of Alabama by Max Preps….a two-sport athlete a as a member of the football program…was the starting quarterback for the Patriots and led them to an 11-1 record as a senior…he tossed for 2,900 yards and 29 touchdowns with just two interceptions on the season…named to the ASWA All-State Second Team in 2016.

Personal: Born on October 8, 1998 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama…the son of Chris and Casey Frederick…enrolled in the sports management program at JSU…has three siblings, two brothers, J.C. and Tyler and a sister, Liz…ranks the Washington Nationals at the top of his list of favorite Major League Baseball clubs.
