2009-10
Played in 29 of the Gamecocks’ 30 games as a junior, starting a team-high 26…was the Gamecocks’ most versatile player, leading the team in rebounding and finishing second in scoring…ranked among the top players in the OVC in several categories: 6th in scoring (14.4), 3rd in rebounding (7.0), 6th in FG percentage (.545), 13th in FT percentage (.732), 5th in steals (1.6), 6th in offensive rebounds (2.3), 2nd in defensive rebounds (4.8) and 3rd in minutes (32.4)…averaged 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds, while shooting 53 percent from the floor in OVC games…was named the league’s Player of the Week three times, starting with back-to-back weeks on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 and ending with the nod on Feb. 15…scored in double figures in all but six games, including six games with 20 or more points…poured in a season-high 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting against Murray State on Feb. 13…connected on a school-record 12-of-12 attempts from the charity stripe at Murray State on Jan. 14…became the third player in JSU’s D-I history to reach the 1,000-point plateau with 10 points at Austin Peay on Feb. 15…grabbed his 500th career rebound at Tennessee Tech on Feb. 27…led the team and was second in the OVC in double-doubles with seven…scored 20 points and tied the school’s Division I record for rebounds in a game with 18 against Reinhardt on Dec. 12…had 23 points and 10 rebounds against Tennessee Tech on Dec. 5, thanks to a 10-for-10 night at the free throw line…scored in double figures in 14 of his last 16 games.

2008-09
Saw action in all 28 games for the Gamecocks as a sophomore and started 10…tied for third on the team and 25th in the OVC in scoring with 10 points per game…led the team in rebounding with 5.3 per game, ranking him 16th in the OVC…averaged 3.4 defensive boards per contest, which was 12th in the OVC…was 11th in the league in field goal percentage, connecting on 98-of-200 (.490) attempts…also led the team in steals with 41, ranking eighth in the OVC in that category…notched two double-doubles, vs. Southeast Missouri (12 pts., 10 reb.) on Jan. 5 and vs. Eastern Kentucky (11 pts., 11 reb.) on Feb. 7…scored in double figures 17 times, including a season-high 18 points three times…had a stretch of nine-straight games from Dec. 2 to Jan. 10 where he scored at least 10 points…scored 18 at Norfolk State on Dec. 2, going 6-for-9 from the floor…was 11-for-12 from the free throw line at Southeast Missouri on Jan. 29, a game in which he scored 17 points…was third on the team in fouls committed but never fouled out…had a season-high five steals against Berry College on Dec. 30.

2007-08
Appeared in 28 of the Gamecocks’ 29 games as a freshman, while starting 19 of them…led the Gamecocks and was 14th in the OVC in scoring with 13.0 points per game, while pulling in 5.7 rebounds per game, second on the team and 12th in the league…in 19 league games, averaged 16.2 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game, both tops on the team and sixth and ninth, respectively, in the league…shot .540 from the field on the year, second on the team and fifth in the conference…tied the JSU Division I single-game record at Murray State on Feb. 2, when he pulled in 18 rebounds, the third-highest total by an OVC player in 2007-08…was named the OVC Freshman of the Week twice, on Jan. 14 and Feb. 4…earned the honor on Jan. 14 after he averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals…received the Feb. 4 award after he averaged 18 points, 10.3 boards and 2.0 assists…had a team-high four double-doubles, which was tied for the eighth-most in the OVC…scored in double figures 18 times, including six games with 20 or more points…had a streak of seven consecutive games with 10 or more points from Jan. 10 to Jan. 29…scored 53 points over two games on Feb. 2 and Feb. 7, thanks to 26 at Murray State and then a season-high 27 at Tennessee Tech…at TTU on Feb. 7, was 12-for-20 from the floor.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played the 2006-07 season for head coach Rodney Crawford at Harmony Prep in Cincinnati…a complete player for the Hurricanes, averaging 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists per game in 2006-07 to earn first team all-state, all-district and all-region honors and help the Hurricanes to a Prep School National Title in 2006-07 and a No. 6 national ranking among prep schools by HoopScoop.com…was the co-MVP of the NBA Hall of Fame Tournament and the Dayton High Flyers Tournament, as well as the Pocano All-American Camp…was in the Top 20 Eastern Invitational Camp…played with seven guys that went on to play Division I basketball…prior to his season at Harmony Prep, played two seasons at Cardinal Spellman before playing two seasons for Our Savior Lutheran…participated in the New York vs. Chicago and the New York vs. Philadelphia All-Star Games…was a first team All-Bronx performer…was nominated for the MacDonald’s All-America Game, as well as the Wendy’s All-America Game…also played football, where he was a first team all-state wide receiver in New York and played in the New York City vs. New York suburbs all-star game.

Born on Jan. 6, 1988, in Bronx, N.Y…the son of Dorothy Johnson and Lance Murphy…has four brothers, Kevin Johnson, Steve Johnson, Donavan Johnson and Everton Johnson, and two sisters, Chantay Murphy and Vinnette Johnson…majoring in business at JSU.
