Walked on with the Gamecocks as a freshman and joined the team in the second half of the season…saw the floor in four games as a freshman, recording an assists and a steal…made his collegiate debut on national TV against Tennessee State on Jan. 21 and recorded a steal in one minute on the floor.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played six seasons at Green Forest Academy in Decatur, Ga…was an all-region performer for the Eagles and was named the team’s MVP as a junior…as a senior, averaged 1.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists in guiding GFA to a 22-8 record and a region title…in his career, averaged 15.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists…also lettered in track and baseball…former teammate Jamail Jones now plays basketball at Marquette…was an honor student at GFA.

Born on March 22, 1991, in Atlanta, Ga…the son of Joseph Merit and Judith Hemmings…is majoring in criminal justice at JSU.
