Biography

JSU OUTLOOK: Worked hard in the spring to improve and will be looked upon to help the Gamecock running game…one of the strongest players on the team.

JSU CAREER:
2010: Appeared in nine games at tailback for the Gamecocks as a junior, earning the start in five…was the team’s leading rusher and was seventh in the OVC with 57.1 yards per game, thanks to 514 yards on a team-high 118 carries…averaged 4.4 yards per carry and led the Gamecocks and was sixth in the OVC with seven rushing touchdowns…reeled in 11 passes for 85 receiving yards…led the Gamecock rushing attack against Ole Miss with 67 yards on 17 carries to average 3.9 yards per rush...scored JSU’s first of six touchdowns in the second half and overtime with a two-yard plunge...converted the game-winning two-point conversion after catching a Coty Blanchard shuttle pass, which was No. 2 on the Plays of the Day on ESPN...established new career highs in catches and receiving yards with five for 38 yards against the Rebels...accounted for 53 of JSU’s 96 total yards rushing against Chattanooga and caught a pair of passes for 23 yards, including a 14-yard reception...did not play against Georgia State and Eastern Illinois due to injury and saw limited action against Murray State with one carry for three yards...returned to the backfield in the UT Martin contest, leading the ground attack for JSU with 97 yards on 15 touches, including a 31-yard TD run in the third quarter...led the JSU ground attack against Tennessee State with 86 yards on 12 rushes, including a 32-yard touchdown run...sat out the Austin Peay contest and then only had one carry for three yards in the next week vs. Eastern Kentucky…against Southeast Missouri, ran for 26 yards on 12 attempts and turned in a pair of TD runs from inside the two-yard line...led the Jax State ground attack against Tennessee Tech with 120 yards and a score on a career-best 26 carries...had 17 carries for 59 yards in JSU’s playoff matchups with Wofford.

2009: Played in all 11 games, starting five, at running back for the Gamecocks as a sophomore… ranked ninth in the OVC and 76th nationally in rushing (57.2), while his 57.18 yards per game ranked 15th in the league in total offense…ran for six touchdowns out of the backfield, tying him for third on the team in scoring with 42 points…only lost six total yards on 126 carries...led JSU with 11 carries for 59 yards in the Georgia Tech game (9/5) - all career highs...rushed 10 times for 40 yards with a long run of 12 yards against Alabama A&M (9/19)...had a season-high 13 rushing attempt, gaining 53 yards and scoring on a one-yard run to give JSU a 14-0 lead against Nicholls State. (9/26)...also caught two passes for a career-high 21 yards against Nicholls...tied a career-high with 13 rushes and ran for a career high 121 yards and a 43-yard touchdown against UT Martin (10/3)...had nine carries for 38 yards against Murray State (10/10)...rushed 11 times for 53 yards and a touchdown that cut JSU’s deficit to 28-20 against Eastern Illinois (10/24)...had 10 carries for 29 yards and on catch for 34 yards and a touchdown at Austin Peay (10/31)...led JSU with nine rushes for 45 yards and caught one a pass for eight yards at Southeast Missouri State (11/7)...rushed 11 times for 49 yards and a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter against Tennessee Tech (11/14)...scampered for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns on a career-high 16 carries in the season finale against Eastern Kentucky (11/21).

2008: Saw action in seven games, drawing his first start in the Tennessee State game (11/15)…rushed 16 times for 75 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 13 yards on the season…rushed for a season-high 37 yards on four carries against Tennessee Tech (11/8)...had a season-high six rush attempts for 20 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in three passes for 13 yards against Tennessee State (11/15)…scored his first career rushing touchdown at Eastern Kentucky (10/11).

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Shane Queen at North Cobb High School…was named County Running Back of the Year as a senior after rushing for 1,138 yards on 135 carries…was a First-Team All-County selection and team Offensive Player of the Year…was also team captain…named the Atlanta Journal Constitution Player of the Week twice…also named the CSS Player of the Year after helping the Warriors to the Regional 5A Championship and a 10-1 record as a senior.

PERSONAL: Full name is Calvin Middleton…son of Calvin and April Middleton…born May 19, 1990…majoring in Criminal Justice at JSU.
