Biography

JSU CAREER:
2011:
Played in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a junior, earning the start in two of them…grabbed 19 receptions and was third on the team with 265 receiving yards and 24.1 yards per game…caught one touchdown pass, a 28-yard toss from Coty Blanchard over Georgia State on Sept. 17, a game that also saw him haul in a 30-yard pass, his longest of the season…earned his first career start in the Georgia State game and finished with three catches for a season-high 75 yards and a score…caught at least one pass in all but two games.

2010: Appeared in all 12 games as a sophomore for the Gamecocks as a wide receiver…hauled in 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging 17.3 yards per catch…his first touchdown was the 30-yard snag on fourth down in double-overtime at Ole Miss that set up the Gamecocks’ upset…caught a pair of passes for 48 yards, 30 of those yards coming on JSU’s touchdown in the second overtime at Ole Miss...grabbed two catches for 34 yards against Georgia State...had one catch for two yards at Eastern Illinois...hauled in one catch for 21 yards versus Murray State...finished with 62 yards on a season-best three catches, including a 10-yard TD grab from Thomas Darrah, against Austin Peay...had one grab for 25 yards against Eastern Kentucky...credited with two catches for 20 yards against SEMO.

2009: Saw action in seven of the Gamecocks’ 11 games a s a redshirt freshman…caught four passes for 47 yards and one score…had one catch for 18 yards in his JSU debut against Alabama A&M (9/19)...caught his first career touchdown with a five-yard reception against Nicholls State (9/26)...had one catch for nine yards, marking his third straight game with a reception...caught one pass for 15 yards at Southeast Missouri State (11/7).

2008: Sat out the season as a redshirt

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Northside High School in Warner Robbins (Ga.) for Conrad Nix and never lost a high school football game after winning 30 straight, including back-to-back state championships…the Eagles finished ranked No. 7 in the country in 2007…finished with 582 yards on 29 catches and five touchdowns as a senior and led the team with a 20.1 yards per reception average…was named team’s Best Receiver as a senior…was a first-team All-District selection as a senior and was a second-team All-Region performer…finished his career with 952 yards on 55 receptions and eight touchdowns…posted his best game of the season with 187 yards on five catches to help the Eagles to a 31-28 win over Tucker in the semifinal round of the state playoffs as team rallied from a 21-point deficit…was named Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kevyn Daniell Cooper…son of Sultan and LaShan Cooper…born on October 16, 1989…played high school football with JSU teammate Marques Ivory…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
