Biography

JSU CAREER:
2012:
Was the Gamecocks’ placekicker in all 11 games as a junior, handling all kicking duites…was second on the team in scoring with 68 points after making 38 of his 39 extra point attempts and going 10-for-19 on field goal tries…made a career-long 49-yard field goal in the season opener at Arkansas…connected on two game-winning field goals as time expired during the season, the first from 37 yards as time expired to lift JSU to a 27-24 win over Chattanooga on Sept. 8…drilled a 44-yard field goal in overtime for a 31-28 win over Tennessee State on Oct. 20…also made the game winner one week later vs. Murray State, when a 38-yard kick with 8:51 to play gave JSU a 38-35 win…at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 6, made three field goals and four PATs to score 13 points, the most by a JSU kicker since 2007 and the third-most in a game in JSU’s Division I history…his three field goals in that game tied for the most in JSU’s D-I history by a kicker not named Gavin Hallford, who made four in a game three times…scored in every game except one, the final game of the season at Florida…scored eight points twice and nine in the win over Chattanooga.

2011: Saw action in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a sophomore, serving as the team’s placekicker on kickoffs…missed the season finale at Tennessee State on Nov. 19…averaged 62.8 yards per kick and had four touchbacks…kicked off a season-high eight times at Austin Peay on Oct. 15…averaged a season-best 68.2 yards per kickoff at Chattanooga on Sept. 10.

2010: Saw action in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a true freshman, primarily as the team’s kickoff specialist…handled the kickoff duties in all 12 games and served as the team’s placekicker in the playoff game vs. Wofford…against the Terriers, went 2-for-2 on field goals of 35 and 40 yards and missed his lone PAT attempt of the year…had one punt on the year, a 31-yarder in the season opener at Ole Miss that pinned the Rebels deep in their own territory.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at South Gwinnett for John Small…played only one year of football, his senior season…was named the Gwinnett County Special Teams Player of the Week three times during the season…was selected to play in the Gwinnett County All-Star game…played four years of soccer.

PERSONAL: Full name is Griffin Bradford Thomas…is the son of Greg Thomas and Lisa Hall…born on July 5, 1991, in Conyers, Ga…has two brothers, Evan and Jacob…majoring in business management at JSU.
