MOREHEAD, Ky. – Luke Bainer drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Morehead State claimed a 3-2 win over Jacksonville State as the two teams have now each won a game in the three-game Ohio Valley Conference series.
Noah Smallwood allowed just five hits and two runs to earn the win for the Eagles, while Matt Duncan picked up his ninth save. JSU's
Todd Hornsby (1-3) got stuck with the loss despite allowing just three hits and one run.
All the game's scoring took place in the seventh inning as JSU's
Kyle Bluestein reached on an one-out single.
Erik Underwood then hit a two-run home run to right field to give the Gamecocks a 2-0 lead.
Morehead State answered in the home half of the seventh as Drew Williams reached on a one-out single and Duran Elmore followed with an infield single to chase JSU starter
Daniel Watts.
Bobby Lewis followed with a pinch-hit single to load the bases and Williams scored on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 2-1. Bainer then doubled to left center to score Elmore and Lewis for the final margin.

Erik Underwood led JSU with two RBI. Eric Bainer and Deeds led the Eagles with a pair of hits.
The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday. Game time is set for 12 noon and will be carried on the JSU Sports Network.
