JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State completed the weekend sweep of Siena with its best offensive output of the season with a 14-8 Sunday win on Rudy Abbott Field at
Jim Case Stadium.
The Gamecocks have reeled off four consecutive wins dating back to last Sunday at Southern Mississippi. The Saints fell to 0-9 on the season with all nine games away from the state of New York. Jax State will continue its homestand with its first midweek contest at home, hosting the Trojans of Troy. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tickets are available online at JSUGamecockSports.com. JSU students and all fans 18 years old and younger are admitted free.
The 14 runs scored was a season-high for JSU, which was propelled by a season-best 15 hits against Siena pitching. The Gamecocks powered four home runs, highlighted by a three-run home run by senior
Cole Frederick in a six-run sixth inning that erased a Saints 6-5 lead. Frederick finished with three hits and four RBI on the day. Junior
T.J. Reeves started the home run barrage with a solo home run in the second inning. It was Reeves third home run of the season, which gave him the team lead in home runs until the fifth inning. After the Saints squared the contest at 3-all, senior
Alex Strachan connected on a two-run blast to straight centerfield in the fifth. He joined Reeves for the team lead in home runs with three on the season. Sophomore
Kody Putnam rounded out the JSU home runs with a pinch hit solo home run in the eighth.
Frederick was one of four Gamecocks with multiple hits in the contest. Reeves finished with a pair of hits, Strachan posted two hits in the contest. Sophomore
Derrick Jackson, Jr. added two hits in the win. Freshman
Brennen Norton had a multi-RBI day with two in the contest.

Jake Peppers collected his second win on a Sunday in a row out of the bullpen. Peppers went 1.2 innings and tallied a trio of strikeouts. Sophomore
Camden Lovrich went four-plus innings on Sunday and allowed two hits and matched his career high in strikeouts with five. Junior
Trevor Andrews and sophomore Blake Bennet covered the final three frames on the mound for JSU. Bennett tallied a pair of strikeouts in his Jax State debut.
