JSU CAREER:
(2013): Appeared and started in all 58 games in 2013…made 50 starts at short stop and eight starts at second base…batted .190 on the year with nine doubles, two triples and three home runs…finished fifth on the team with 41 runs and ranked second with 39 RBI…finished with 10 multi-hit games, including one three-hit game against Murrat State on April 14…finished with nine multi-RBI games, including a season-best four RBI against Alabama State on May 1…played and started in 30 OVC games…batted .197 in conference play with 23 hits, three home runs and 24 RBI…hit his first home run of the season against UT Martin on March 8.
(2012): Appeared in 45 games, making 37 starts on the year…made 24 starts at shortstop, 12 starts at second base, and one start at third base…batted .237 with five doubles, three triples and 15 RBI…had a season best six-game hitting streak…finished the season with six multiple-hit games, including one three-hit game against Eastern Illinois (5/19)…finished the season with one multiple-RBI games, driving in four runs against Alabama State (5/2)…batted .256 against OVC foes…was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple against Alabama State (5/2)…recorded two hits in the OVC Tournament against Morehead State.
(2011): As a true freshman, was named to the OVC All-Freshman team after starting 50 games at shortstop…batting .234 with seven doubles and three home runs, while also adding 31 RBI…had a season-best five game hitting streak…finished the season with 11 multiple-hit games, including nine 2-hit games…had seven multiple-RBI games…batted .260 vs OVC foes…made his Gamecock debut at Auburn, where he went 1-for-3…drove in his first run at Middle Tennessee on 2/26, after recording a pair of hits…drove in three runs the following day vs MTSU…was 3-for-4 with three runs scored after slugging his first home run of his career vs UAB on 4/5…also had three hits at SEMO on 4/22 and hit his second HR of the season…was 2-for-3 with another homer at EIU on 5/8…was 2-for-3 vs UTM in the opening round of the OVC Tournament on 5/25…also had two hits vs SEMO on 5/28 in OVC semifinals.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Pelham High School for Jeff Mauldin…was an honorable mention All-American by Collegiate Baseball and first-team All-State as a senior after batting .410 with 12 home runs and 55 RBI…also earned first-team All-District and All-Region honors in 2010…named team Most Valuable Player in 2010…was named the Birmingham co-Player of the Year, along with his twin brother, Michael…helped the Panthers post a 39-6 record as as senior and was named the team Defensive Player of the Year his sophomore and senior seasons…also earned Player of the Week honors by The Birmingham News in 2010…participated in the Troy Underclassman Showcase in 2008…was an honor student.
PERSONAL: Full name is William Andrew Bishop…son of James and the late Jane Bishop…born on May 20, 1992…has a twin brother, Michael, that also plays for the Gamecocks, and has an older sister, Briana…lists Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners as his favorite Major League Baseball player…majoring in Accounting at JSU.
