Biography

OUTLOOK: Coming into a fifth year after missing 2008 with a knee injury…should bring experience and maturity to a talented pitching staff…worked very hard in the offseason and is in great shape, with the injury behind her…adds more depth and is a great contrast from the other pitchers on the staff…coaches expect great things from her, and she has set personal goals for herself to have a great senior year.

2008: Received a medical redshirt after missing the season with a knee injury.

2007: Made 39 appearances as a junior for the Gamecocks and started 31 games…posted a 21-10 record and a 1.57 earned run average, while leading the Ohio Valley Conference and ranking 11th nationally with five saves to earn first team All-OVC honors…in her 31 starts, went the distance 25 times and recorded five shutouts…threw 209.1 innings and allowed 85 runs, just 47 earned, on 179 hits…struck out 172 batters, the sixth-highest total in school history…opponents hit just .222 against her…in OVC play, was 9-4 with a 2.94 ERA and three saves in 19 appearances…had a stretch of tough luck early in the year and, at one point, was 3-5 despite a 0.27 earned run average…lost two 1-0 decisions in one week to South Carolina and Auburn of the Southeastern Conference, allowing an unearned run in both…of her first 18 runs allowed, only three were earned…struck out 11 batters in a game twice (at UAB on Feb. 20 and at Birmingham-Southern on April 25…won her first Division I start on Feb. 11 against Alabama State.

PRIOR TO JSU: Played two seasons for head coach Andy Mace at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla…was a first team all-conference selection as a sophomore after breaking the school record with 31 wins…helped lead the Mountaineers to the World Series twice in her two-year career…as a sophomore, boasted a 30-6 record with one save and a 0.64 ERA, while striking out 214 batters and only walking 45…opponents hit just .176 against her in her sophomore campaign, when she allowed just one home run in 229 innings of work…was a second team all-conference selection as a freshman…teammate at Eastern Oklahoma State was current Gamecock Brittney Day…played high school softball for head coach Jeff Hite at North Canton Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio…was a first team all-state player as a junior and senior after earning second team all-state honors as a sophomore…was a first team All-Federal District performer in each her freshman, sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

PERSONAL: Born on March 26, 1985…the daughter of Ralph and Cindy Pittman…has one sister, Cassie Triplett, who played softball at Cleveland State…is majoring in general studies at JSU.
