JSU OUTLOOK: Worked very hard during the Spring and made great improvements with his extra point and field goal accuracy.

JSU CAREER:
2010: Served as the team’s placekicker in all 12 games as a sophomore for the Gamecocks…a Second Team All-OVC selection, led the team and was second in the OVC in scoring with 80 points, thanks to a 41-for-43 success rate on extra points and 13 field goals in 20 attempts…was the team’s secondary kickoff specialist and booted 11 kickoffs…was named the OVC Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 14 after making a trio of field goals in JSU’s win over Southeast Missouri, a game that saw him connect from 34, 42 and 15 yards to turn in a season-best 11 points…drilled a pair of field goals in JSU’s win over Ole Miss...connected on a career-best 45 yard FG in the first half and posted a 44 yard FG in the second half..the 45-yarder was the longest by a Gamecock since Nov. 15, 2008 (Gavin Hallford - 48 yds. vs. Tenn. State)...kicked off twice for 106 yards and averaged 53 yards per kick...nailed two field goals from 20 and 27 yards out - his first attempts from inside the 30 yard line on the season, at Georgia State...turned in two field goals from 35 and 41 yards against Murray State...drilled eight PATs against Austin Peay, the only game in which he did not attempt a field goal.

AT FLORIDA STATE: A walk-on kicker who joined the Seminoles to begin fall workouts in 2008.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Lee County High School in 2008...earned all-region honors as a senior...longest career field goal of 57 yards came during his freshman season...made 11-of-12 extra point attempts and kicked a season-best 47-yard field goal as a senior during the 2007 season...began playing football during his sophomore season in high school...named the TAG Sports Radio Impact Player of the Year in 2008...earned all-region and all-area honors as a sophomore, junior and senior...named to the all-region and all-metro teams as a sophomore and a junior...earned varsity letters in football, track and field and soccer during his high school athletic career.

PERSONAL: Born May 30, 1990...James is the son of Susan and Jim Esco...an accomplished soccer player who began playing the sport when he was eight years old...major is public relations.
