JSU CAREER:
2015: Played in all 15 of JSU’s games en route to the national championship contest…made three starts on the offensive line with the first coming at No. 6 Auburn on Sept. 12…member of an O-Line unit which helped set the single-season school record for total offense with 7,613 yards which included season records for both passing and rushing totals…helped open lanes for the third-leading rushing attack in the country…led the conference in total and scoring offense averaging 38.9 points per game…assisted a line that led the OVC in first downs averaging nearly 25 a game.
2014: Quickly made the transition from the junior college ranks with nine starts on the offensive line and seeing action in all 12 games…member of the offensive line unit that paved the way for the Gamecocks to break a school record for yards per game at 510.8 per contest…helped the offense rank fourth nationally in total offense and tops in the Ohio Valley Conference in that category…paced the rushing attack that led the OVC…member of the offensive line that allowed just 18 sacks throughout the 2014 season, which was third-best in the conference…keyed JSU on third down conversions as a junior as the club ranked second in the OVC in moving the chains on third down…graded out at 85 percent on the season.
PRIOR TO JSU: Played for head coaches Mark Lassiter and David Faulkner at Fairhope High School before attending East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss…rated a three-star recruit by scout.com out of high school and the No. 8 center in his 2012 class…was an all-state selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and a captain in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game in 2011, while also earning first-team all-region, all-county and all-district honors…received a medical redshirt in 2012 at ECCC before playing in 2013, leaving him with three years of eligibility…nephew of former Alabama All-American offensive tackle Chris Samuels…chose JSU over South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tennessee State, McNeese State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.
