JSU CAREER: 2017: Appeared in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a redshirt freshman…recorded five tackles from the linebacker position, including four solo wrap-ups and one assisted…made his NCAA debut in the Gamecocks’ season-opening win over Chattanooga on Aug. 26 in Montgomery, Ala…made first contact against Liberty on Sept. 23 and set a career-high with two tackles against the Flames…his assisted tackle came against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 30…recorded solo tackles against Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State…served second on the depth chart behind junior linebacker Quan Stoudemire.
2016: Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Spent three years at Christopher Columbus High School before playing his senior season across town at Gulliver Prep in Miami, Fla…finished with more than 300 tackles and seven forced fumbles…was a first team all-district and second team All-State.
PERSONAL: Born July 27, 1998, in Miami, Fla…son of Yolanda and Darren Handy…has two older siblings, brother Darren, and sister, Courtney…father Darren played football at Miami and was a starting lineman on the 1989 national championship team…chose JSU over Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Bowling Green and others…plans to major in business management at JSU.
