Biography

JSU CAREER:
2018:
Started all 13 games at safety as a junior for the Gamecocks…ranked third on the team in nearly every defensive statistic…recorded 66 tackles, including 46 solo…also picked up 8.5 tackles for loss for a total of 20 yards…led the team in interceptions with four and returned them for a total of 63 yards, including a 45-yard return against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 8…recorded at least five tackles on seven different occasions, including eight in each of the last three games of the season…had his best statistical game of the season on Nov. 17 at Kennesaw State, when he recorded eight tackles, seven solo, while making two tackles for a loss…also returned an interception for seven yards against the Owls.

2017: Appeared in all 12 games and made 10 starts in his sophomore season…amassed 53 tackles, good for fifth among all Gamecocks…wrapped up 27 solo tackles and 26 assisted tackles…had 2.5 tackles for loss for five yards and had one sack for one yard…broke up one pass and forced one fumble…totaled a career-best nine tackles against Southeast Missouri on Oct. 28…his sack for a loss of one yard at Georgia Tech on Sept. 9 was the first of his career…forced his first fumble Sept. 30 at Tennessee Tech…recorded multiple tackles in 11 of the season’s 12 games…recorded four solo tackles against both TTU and Kennesaw State.

2016: Appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman…made his first collegiate start against Youngstown State in JSU’s second-round playoff game…finished the season with 14 total tackles…set a career high for tackles in a game with four against the Penguins on Dec. 3…credited with at least one tackle in nine games…had his first career pass breakup at Liberty on Sept. 24…at least one tackle in every OVC game but two.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Valley High School under Coach Marshon Harper…chosen as an All-State honorable mention selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association following his senior year…finished with 105 tackles, six interceptions, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery as a senior…scored 10 touchdowns during senior year…rushed for 60 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns in upset win over Lanett…also played basketball for the Rams…orginally signed with West Alabama as a senior.

PERSONAL: Born on August 15, 1997…son of Takisha Avery and Martula Williams…has three younger siblings.
