JSU OUTLOOK: Finished the spring very strong…will be a versatile player with his size and speed.

JSU CAREER:
2010: Saw action at wide receiver in all 12 of the Gamecocks’ games a s junior, earning a start in two games…was third on the team with 25 catches for 316 yards and led the squad with six receiving touchdowns…averaged 26.3 yards per game and 12.6 yards per catch…was JSU’s No. 2 kickoff return man with 11 returns for a team-best average of 26.6 yards, while also returning three punts for an average of 11.3 yards per return…hauled in a four-yard touchdown catch in JSU’s win over Ole Miss and finished the season opener with three catches for 23 yards...caught the 72-yard game-winning touchdown from Marques Ivory with 1:16 remaining against Chattanooga, the longest catch of his career...finished the UTC game with two receptions for 85 yards and forced a fumble in the come-from-behind win...collected four catches for 30 yards, including a 14-yard catch against Georgia State, while totaling 110 yards on four kickoff returns...returned three kickoffs for 50 yards against Eastern Illinois, including a 27-yard return in the contest...had three rushes for 11 yards against Murray State...caught three passes for 32 yards, including a 12-yard strike from Marques Ivory to put JSU on the board against UT Martin, and amassed 94 yards on two kickoff returns in the contest...hauled in three catches for 40 yards against Tennessee State, including an 18-yard TD grab...recorded a pair of touchdown catches (13 and 3 yds) against Austin Peay, finishing the day with three catches for 24 yards...posted a pair of catches for 38 yards against Eastern Kentucky...caught three passes for 34 yards versus Southeast Missouri…ran the ball twice for 22 yards in the regular-season finale at Tennessee Tech.

2009: Moved to wide receiver in the spring after playing in the JSU Secondary in 2008…saw action in the first 10 games of the season as a sophomore…was third on the team in both receptions (19) and receiving yards (281) for an average of 28.1 yards per game…averaged 14.8 yards per catch and found the end zone twice…also served as a threat on special teams, returning 10 kickoffs for an average of 22.5 yards per return…recorded six tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams…had three receptions for 12 yards with a long of eight in his first game as a receiver against Georgia Tech (9/5)...caught an 18-yard pass at Florida State (9/12)...set career highs with four catches for 71 yards, including a 34-yard reception that set up a Ryan Perrilloux one-yard touchdown run against Alabama A&M (9/19)...had one rush for 10 yards at Nicholls State (9/26)...caught four passes for 37 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Perrilloux against UT Martin (10/3)...had two receptions for a career-high 93 yards that included a 66-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Perrilloux at Murray State (10/10)...caught two passes for 16 yards versus Eastern Illinois (10/24)...had one reception for nine yards against Austin Peay (10/31)...caught one pass for 16 yards and recovered a fumble and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown at Southeast Missouri State (11/7)...had one catch for nine yards and rushed one time for 15 yards against Tennessee Tech (11/14).

2008: Recorded 20 tackles, 10 solo stops, while playing in all 11 games…had a season-high six tackles, four solos against Tennessee Tech (11/8) and posted four tackles versus Southeast Missouri State (10/4)…

2007: Sat out the season as a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Charlie Baren at St. Clair County High School…finished with more than 750 yards rushing, 250 receiving yards, nine touchdowns and registered 105 tackles on defense as a senior…was selected All-County as a running back and as a linebacker in 2006…named the Leeds County Player of the Year…helped the Fighting Saints to a 9-3 record as a junior…also lettered in Basketball, where he was named to the All-Tournament team during the County Championships.

PERSONAL: Full name is James Napoleon Shaw…son of Napoleon and Michelle Shaw…born Feb. 27, 1989...majoring in exercise science and wellness.
