JSU CAREER
2019: Made 18 appearances out of the bullpen and worked 23.0 innings…posted 25 strikeouts…notched a win at Murray State on March 23 after tossing an inning…pitched two-plus inning in five appearances with a season-best 2.2 against Tennessee Tech on March 31.
2018: Saw action on the mound 15 times in 2018 and tossed 21.0 innings…posted a 3-3 mark, including his first win as a Gamecock in JSU’s midweek victory at UAB on February 27…turned in a season high 4.0 innings and six strikeouts to notch the win against Florida International on March 3…picked up his third win of the season against Alabama State on April 17 after pitching an inning…earned his first career save on the opening weekend of the season against Southern Illinois…finished the season with 18 strikeouts and 15 earned runs allowed.
2017: Made 21 appearances out of the bullpen in his second year at JSU … finished the season with a 5.95 earned run average after allowing 13 earned runs in 19.2 innings pitched … struck out 19 batters while walking 11 … made eight pitching appearances in OVC play and allowed only two runs … did not commit a fielding error against OVC foes … had 11 scoreless pitching appearances…played in the Alaska Baseball League with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots…named an ABL All-Star.
2016: Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped under head coaches Jeff Mauldin and Sean Anderson at Pelham High from 2011-2015…a lefty who pitched and played in the outfield…pitched in the 6A State Championship game…also scored 15 touchdowns as a member of the Panther’s football team…signed his LOI alongside Pelham players Hunter Stovall (Miss. St.), Sam Finnerty (Alabama) and Connor Radcliff (Samford).
PERSONAL: Born Nov. 21, 1996 in Birmingham, Ala… the son of Calvin and Terri Wilburn…has two younger brothers, J.C. and Reese…father Calvin, a former JSU baseball manager, is a producer on the nationally-syndicated “Rick and Bubba” morning radio show…majoring in sports management at JSU…also recruited by UAB, Samford and others.
