JSU CAREER
2011: Played in all 11 games as a sophomore, serving as the starting quarterback in nine of them after Marques Ivory went down in the opener with a broken leg…led the OVC with a 145.1 passing efficiency after completing 135 of his 211 passes  for 1,703 yards, 12 touchdowns and just five interceptions…was the third-leading rusher on the team, running for 427 yards and six touchdowns on 106 carries…his 154.8 passing yards per game and his 193.6 yards of total offense per game both ranked seventh in the OVC…also served as the team’s punter, averaging 37.0 yards in 53 punts, three over 50 yards and 20 of them pinned inside the 20…from under center, threw for 100 yards or more in every game but one, the SEMO game on Nov. 12 in which he saw limited action due to back spasms…threw for a career-best 300 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-27 passing vs. Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 5…in the opener on Sept. 1, came off of the bench to lead JSU to a come-from-behind win over UT Martin, a game that saw him complete 9-of-17 passes for 133 yards and a score and run nine times for 32 yards to erase a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit and earn OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors…capped the season by throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-18 passing, while running for 38 yards and a touchdown to lead JSU over Tennessee State and into a share of the OVC Title…ran for a season-high two touchdowns at Georgia State on Sept. 17 and gained a season-best 83 yards on 10 carries in that SEMO game, one that saw him lead JSU to overcome a 21-9 deficit and pull off a 22-21 win…threw two touchdown passes four times...missed the spring while playing for the JSU baseball team and then spent his summer playing for the Falmouth Commodores in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.

2010: Played in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a true freshman, serving as the team’s starting punter and backup quarterback…had a stellar debut season, earning OVC Freshman of the Year honors and OVC All-Newcomer honors…under center, was 27-for-41 passing for 296 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions, while rushing 58 times for 380 yards and two touchdowns…averaged 5.0 yards per carry…as the team’s punter, averaged 39.5 yards per kick on 42 punts, 20 of which were pinned inside the 20 yard line…stormed onto the scene in his debut, garnering national recognition for his 30-yard touchdown pass to Kevyn Cooper and two-point conversion to Calvin Middleton in double-overtime to stun Ole Miss…his game-winner was No. 2 on ESPN’s Sportscenter Top 10 Plays and his performance earned he and starting quarterback Marques Ivory OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors and him OVC Newcomer of the Week honors…against the Rebels, threw for 126 yards and two scores on 9-of-13 passing…also carried the ball four times for 16 yards and punted four times for an average of 45.5 yards...posted two touchdowns against Chattanooga, one rushing and one passing, and connected on a 51-yard punt to garner OVC Newcomer of the Week honors...scored a touchdown in his third-straight game with a four-yard run against Georgia State…gained 42 yards on eight carries against EIU but was held without a touchdown for the first time in the season…passed for 68 yards and one touchdown, rushed for 28 yards, and averaged 39.4 yards on seven punts against Murray State to earn his third OVC Newcomer of the Week Award...also had a fake punt run of 27 yards to set up a Jax State TD drive and pinned MSU deep in its own territory to help preserve the win...completed a 4-yard TD pass to Denzel Cheeks versus UT Martin and ran for 42 yards…established a new season-long punt with a 55-yard effort inside the 10 against Tennessee State...tossed his sixth touchdown of the season versus the Tigers and finished with 32 yards on four completions...threw two TDs and finished the Austin Peay contest 4-for-4 with 25 yards, his second game of the season with a pair of TD passes...carried the ball a season-high nine times for a season-best 82 yards against APSU, including a season-long rush of 46 yards and punted just twice in the game, pinning both inside the 20...a perfect 3-for-3 for 21 yards passing against Eastern Kentucky, with 14 of the 21 yards coming on a fourth-down pass to extend JSU’s second scoring drive...carried the ball twice for 37 yards, including a run of 38 yards against Tennessee Tech...punted three times vs. TTU for an average of 41.7 yards, which was aided by a season-best 57-yard boot...was a Freshman All-America selection by Louisville Slugger and an OVC All-Newcomer pick for the JSU baseball team in the spring.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Cherokee County High School for Tripp Curry…led the Warriors to the Class 4A State Championship and a perfect 15-0 record…was named Alabama Mr. Football by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…was named the Class 4A Back of the Year as a senior and was a two-time first-team All-State selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…pass for more than 2,900 yards with 35 touchdowns and rushed for 1,160 yards with 20 touchdowns as a senior…was named to The Birmingham News Super 12, the Anniston Star Dandy Dozen, The Gadsden Times Dirty Dozen and the ABC 33/40 Friday Night Blitz Quarterback of the Year…helped team post a 14-1 record his junior year…played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic…also lettered in baseball and basketball…was an all-area selection for basketball, where he has scored more than 1,000 points…was a three-time team Most Valuable Player in baseball, and also played in the Lions Club North-South game…is also expected to play baseball for the Gamecocks.

PERSONAL: Full name is David Coty Blanchard…born on Dec. 16, 1991…son of Fran and Tara Blanchard…has one younger sister, Candace…his father, Fran, played football for Jacksonville State from 1980-83…is majoring in education at JSU.
