JSU CAREER
2014:
Appeared in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a junior and earned the starting nod against West Alabama on Sept. 20…finished second on the team with 715 yards on 123 carries and found the end zone six times on the ground…also caught 10 passes for 101 yards…was one of the team’s primary kick returners, averaging 21.4 yards on 15 return attempts…had a season-high 121 yards on 10 carries against West Alabama…had 114 yards and a score on a season-high 21 carries at Southeast Missouri on Nov. 22…scored one touchdown in five consecutive games from Oct. 4 to Nov. 8…had two runs longer than 40 yards, a 40 yarder at Chattanooga on Sept. 6 and a 47 yarder against UWA on Sept. 27…against UT Martin on Oct. 4, had 91 yards and a score on 20 carries…caught two passes four times…had two 20-yard receptions – vs. UWA and at Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 8.

2013: Playedi n 14 of the Gamecocks’ 15 games as a sophomore…ran the ball 145 times and was third on the team with 633 yards, while tying for second with eight rushing touchdowns…also threw a touchdown pass, a 53-yard toss to Markis Merrill on JSU’s first play from scrimmage against North Alabama on Sept. 14…was part of an FCS record-breaking performance vs. Jacksonville on Sept. 7, when he ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries, teaming up with Eli Jenkins, DaMarcus James and Miles Jones in the first time in FCS history four players on the same team ran for 100 yards in the same game…also scored a season-high three touchdowns in the Jacksonville game…broke the century mark in rushing yards one other time, with 102 yards on six carries against Southeast Missouri on Nov. 23…caught 10 passes for 138 yards, including a season-long 30 yard reception in the Aug. 31 season opener at Alabama State…scored two touchdowns against Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 9 and again vs. SEMO on Nov. 23…had a season-high 22 carries vs. North Alabama on Sept. 14.

2012: Played in seven games as a true freshman for the Gamecocks, starting one…missed a stretch of four games due to an injury…made his only start of the season and the first of his career on Sept. 8 vs. Chattanooga…started his career with a bang, earning Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honors in each of his first two games…the first was the season opener at Arkansas on Sept.1, when he led the Gamecocks with 65 yards on 14 carries and also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Marques Ivory in his collegiate debut…the next week, he ran for a season-high 100 yards on 12 carries in a win over Chattanooga…scored his first career touchdown on Oct. 20 with a  two-yard run vs. Tennessee State…finished the season third on the team with 240 yards on 44 carries.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Eddie Bullock at Anniston High School…was named the Class 4A Back of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and finished third in the voting for Mr. Football as a senior…helped the Bulldogs to the state semifinals as a senior after rushing for 2,539 yards and 31 touchdowns…rushed for more than 1,900 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior to help the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record…was a first-team all-state, all-district and all-region selection…named The Anniston Star Player of the Year as a junior and senior…named to The Birmingham News State’s Best 12…named the Fox 6 Player of the Year in 2011…named The Anniston Star Player of the Week five times as a senior.

PERSONAL: Full name is Troymaine D. Pope…born on Nov. 26, 1993, in Anniston, Ala…son of Frederick and Tracey Pope…has one brother, Omaurich,  and one sister, Tatyanna…has a daughter, Cassidy Pope.
