2012: Saw action in eight of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a true freshman…recorded six tackles on the season…finished with three solo stops against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 22…recorded one stop against Arkansas, Southeast Missouri and Tennessee State…made his first career start against Southeast Missouri on Sept. 29.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Jeff Pugh at East Limestone High School…was a first-team all-district and all-region selection both as a junior and senior…finished his senior season with more than 150 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss…had his best game with 23 tackles vs Russellville in 2011…won team Head Hunter Award and was named to the WAFF 48 Elite Eleven.

PERSONAL: Full name is Leon Jones, II…born Dec. 21, 1993, in Decatur, Ala…son of Leon and Georgia Jones…has an older sister, Ashley Buford, and an older brother, Jeremy Jones…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
