JSU CAREER: 2021: Started six of JSU’s first seven games of the season at right guard… part of the Gamecocks offensive line that opened the holes for three 200-yard rushing games including the upset win at Florida State on Sept. 11…blocked for an offense that gained more than 350 total yards in six games with a season-high 497 gained in the win against Abilene Christian.
Fall 2020/Spring 2021: Started in 10 of 12 games played in during his first season with the Gamecocks...part of an offensive line unit that blocked for the top offense in the Ohio Valley Conference, one that gained 384 yards per game... helped protect a JSU passing attack that led the OVC and ranked 28 nationally in total offense with 4,993 yards.
PRIOR TO JSU: Spent the 2019 season at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., where he was redshirted…was on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team and the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team…transferred to Nebraska from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa…was rated as the No. 1 junior college center by JCGridiron.com…IWCC was a combined 22-2 in his two seasons, while he was a two-time Academic All-American…played in nine games on the offensive line for the Reivers in 2018 before suffering a foot injury…in his first year at Iowa Western in 2017, played in four games on the defensive line before suffering a torn ACL.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped for head coach Andy Jacobson at Algona High School in Algona, Iowa…a two-time first-team all-region and all-district player for the Bulldogs…participated in the Iowa River Battle Bowl All-Star Game…also a standout on the AHS wrestling team, qualifying for state twice in his career.
PERSONAL: Born on Oct. 9, 1998, in Algona, Iowa…the son of Jerod Wegener and Valorie Lauck…has a younger brother – Wyatt, who plays football at Iowa, and three sisters – Sierra, Aubri and Ella…majoring in biology/pre-med at JSU.
