PRIOR TO JSU: Spent four seasons at the University of Arizona, signing with the Wildcats in 2018 after being recruited by Rich Rodriguez’s staff…redshirted in 2018 after playing in four games and rushing for 98 yards and a score on 23 carries…as a redshirt freshman in 2019, saw action in nine games, running for 203 yards and a score on 34 carries, while catching 12 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns…against UCLA in 2019, had 134 all-purpose yards, thanks to 99 receiving yards and a score on five catches and 35 rushing yards on six carries…did not play in 2020 and then saw action as a reserve in 2021.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Dawson High School in Pearland, Texas…three-year letterwinner in football at running back, cornerback and kick returner…two-time team captain and team MVP, while earning All District 23-6A honors three times…district Player of the Year as a junior in 2016…holds school records in rushing touchdowns in a game, rushing yards in a game and points scored in a game.
PERSONAL: Son of Darrilyn Bartlow and Darryl Smith…has one brother, Darryl Smith III, and one sister, Darrieon Smith.
