JSU CAREER:
2015: Appeared in 14 games, recorded 12 tackles…returned one punt for six yards…led the Gamecocks with 410 yards on 18 kickoff returns…recorded an interception against Mississippi Valley State…forced a key fumble in the early moments to set the stage for JSU’s semifinal win over SHSU…earned second team all-conference honors for his performance as a kickoff return specialist.

2014: Saw action in 11 games on the defensive side of the ball…made his JSU debut against Michigan State in season opener…recorded his first Jax State stop in the UT Martin contest…finished with five tackles on the season…posted a season-high two tackles at Southeast Missouri…credited with a pass breakup at Eastern Kentucky…tallied a fumble recovery against Austin Peay.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Prattville High School for head coach Jamey DuBose…helped the Lions to a 12-2 overall mark and a spot in the state championship contest against Hoover…a four-year member of the PHS football squad.

PERSONAL: Full name is Lawon Derrell Debardelaben…born February 26, 1993…son of Pam Russell…has three brothers, Justin Albert, Matthew and Andrew Russell, and two sisters, Mekeon and Quintera DeBardelaben…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
