JSU CAREER
2011: Played in one game for the Gamecocks as a redshirt freshman…saw time as a backup quarterback at Murray State on Oct. 15, running three times for 10 yards and completing his only pass for seven yards…guided the first team offense in the J-Day game this past spring, completing 16-of-19 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns.

2010: Sat out the season as a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Southwest Dekalb High School for Buck Godfrey…helped the Panthers to a 10-2 record as a senior and the Region Championship…was 38-for-66 for 352 yards and nine touchdowns and added four rushing touchdowns…had his best game after going 10f-ro14 for 151 yards and three touchdowns in a 26-0 win over Tucker.

PERSONAL: Full name is Steven Coates…son of Antionette Coates…has two younger brothers, Antonio and Ansel, and one younger sister, Charmarne…major is undeclared at JSU.
