Biography

JSU CAREER:
2011:
Played in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a junior and started seven of them, including the final six games of the season…recorded 30 tackles on the season, including 25 that were unassisted…had four tackles behind the line of scrimmage and one quarterback hurry…forced one fumble, at Kentucky on Oct. 22, and recovered one, vs. Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 5…made a season-high six stops twice, all solo in the Kentucky game and four solo and two assisted at Murray State on Oct. 1…had five tackles vs. Georgia State on Sept. 17…capped the season with three stops and a quarterback pressure at Tennessee State on Nov. 19.

2010: Appeared in all 12 games as a reserve for the Gamecocks as a sophomore…recorded nine tackles and one pass break-up…assisted on a tackle at Ole Miss in the season opener...had one tackle against Murray State...credited with one tackle against Austin Peay...added a pair of tackles against Eastern Kentucky...turned in a pair of tackles against Tennessee Tech and had another in the Gamecocks’ playoff game vs. Wofford.

2009: Saw action as a reserve in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a redshirt freshman…recorded 10 tackles, one for a loss…had three tackles in a game twice, at Murray State (10/10) and vs. Tennessee Tech (11/14)…notched two tackles against UT Martin (10/3).

2008: Sat out the season as a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Paul Ellis at Fort Payne High School…was named the Region 7 Most Valuable Player as a senior after rushing 82 times for 655 yards and 22 touchdowns…also had 934 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns to earn honorable-mention All-State honors as a senior…was an All-County wide receiver and was team captain as a senior…helped the Wildcats to back-to-back Regional Championships and 11-1 records…finished his career with 1,4087 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns, while hauling in 101 passes for 1,679 yards and 26 touchdowns…holds school records for most career touchdowns (58), most career receptions (101), most career yards receiving (1,679) and most touchdown receptions in a game…also lettered in baseball and track, where he was the Class 5A Indoor Long Jump Champion…played prep ball with JSU teammate Andrew Ridgeway…graduated with an advanced diploma.

PERSONAL: Full name is Nick Johnson…son of Robert Johnson and Lisa Ham and stepfather Randall Ham…born on July 30, 1990…has two younger brothers, Jake and Thomas…majoring in emergency management at JSU.
