JSU CAREER:
2015: Started all 15 games at quarterback for the Gamecocks as a junior…was first JSU student-athlete to be named OVC Male Athlete of the Year since the Gamecocks joined the league in 2003-04…was named FCS Stats and AP first-team All-American, FCS ADA National Quarterback of the Year and OVC Player of the Year after finishing the year with 2,788 passing yards and 1,161 rushing yards…holds the Jacksonville State school record for career total offensive yards…just the fifth quarterback in school history to throw for over 5,000 yards…heading into the 2016 season, the Gamecocks are 6-0 when Jenkins rushes and passes for 100 yards in a game…named OVC Offensive Player of the Week a league-high four times…named National Player of the Week by College Sporting News following JSU’s 34-0 win over Eastern Kentucky…one of just three quarterbacks at the Division I level to pass for 2,700 and rush for 1,000 yards in a season…comes into the 2016 season tied with Ed Lett (1979-82) is career touchdowns with 65 (36 passing, 29 rushing) finished the year ranked second in OVC single-season history for total offense (3,949) and moved to seventh place in OVC career history in the same category (8,357)…he’s 26-0 all-time as a starter against non-FBS opponents during the regular season…ranked 11th nationally in rushing touchdowns (11), 16th in passing yards (2,788), 17th in passing touchdowns (21)…rushed for 100 or more yards three times in a game…hauled in one reception for eight yards against SEMO…threw for 100 or more yards in 13 of 15 games…tossed at least one touchdown pass in 12 of 15 games…finished the season with a 137.56 passing efficiency…finished third on the season with 1,169 all-purpose yards

2014: Started all 12 games at quarterback for the Gamecocks as a sophomore…was named first team All-OVC after throwing for 1,870 yards and 12 TDs and running for  698 yards and six TDs…completed 127 of his 222 passes and threw nine interceptions to his 12 touchdowns for a 137.69 passing efficiency…averaged 155.8 passing yards per game…was third on the team in rushing on 132 carries, an average of 58.1 yards per contest and 5.3 yards per carry…was named the OVC and National Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28 after throwing for 178 yards and a score on 15-for-20 passing and running for 149 yards and three scores on 14 carries in a win at Murray State…was the OVC Offensive Player of the Week On Sept. 7 after guiding JSU to an overtime win at UTC by throwing for 122 yards on 15-of-21 passing and running for 82 yards and the game-winning score in overtime…threw for a season-high 288 yards and a score on 18-of-35 passing against Eastern Illinois on Nov. 15…threw three touchdown passes at SE Missouri on Nov. 22, a game that saw him complete 11 of his 16 passes for 200 yards, while running for 67 yards on seven carries…had 253 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-24 passing and 84 rushing yards and a score on 18 carries in the FCS Playoff loss to Sam Houston State…tossed an 88-yard touchdown pass to Markis Merrill against West Alabama on Sept. 20, JSU’s longest play from scrimmage on the year…had 100 yards passing in 10 of his 12 games and at least 80 yards in every game…threw at least one touchdown pass in nine of his last 10 games.

2013: Stormed onto the scene as a redshirt freshman, playing in 14 of the Gamecocks’ 15 games and starting at quarterback in eight of them…a dual-threat player, he earned Freshman All-America honors after he threw for 887 yards and three touchdowns on 74-for-124 passing, while running for 953 yards and eight touchdowns on 137 carries…had four 100-yard passing games and five 100-yard rushing games, while running and throwing for the century mark in the same game three times…was part of an NCAA FCS record setting performance against Jacksonville on Sept. 7, when he was one of four different players (D. James, T. Pope, M. Jones) to run for 100 yards in the same game with 128 yards and a score on 15 carries…shared OVC Player of the Week honors with the quartet that week before earning it again on Nov. 10 after he ran for 120 yards and three touchdowns in a Nov. 9 rout of Eastern Kentucky, a game that saw him score on runs of 71, 5 and 21 yards…in JSU’s FCS Quarterfinal loss at No. 3 Eastern Washington, had 245 total yards (127 passing, 118 rushing) before leaving with an injury late in the second quarter…in the EWU game, he completed 85.7 percent (12-for-14) of his passes, the third-highest completion percentage in school history by a quarterback with at least 10 pass attempts in a game…finished the year at his best, running for at least 97 yards in each of his last six games.

2012: Sat out the season as a redshirt…in the 2012 J-Day game, he completed 10-of-19 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown…his performance was highlighted by a 85-yard touchdown pass to Wesley Warren on his first play from scrimmage.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Cedric Blair at Parker High School…was a four-year letterman for the Bison…named team Most Valuable Player…was a first-team all-region selection as a senior after passing for  more than 1,800 yards and 19 touchdowns…named BAPS Offensive Player of the Year…two-time The Birmingham City News Player of the Week…passed for 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior…honor student…school chaplain at PHS.

PERSONAL: Full name is Elijah Denzell Jenkins…son of Reginald and Aundriea Jenkins…has one sister, Brittany…born on August 7, 1994, in Birmingham, Ala…has a son, Kaydon Maurice Jenkins…majoring in exercise science at JSU.
