Biography

JSU CAREER:
2015: Appeared in all 15 games, starting against Austin Peay and Eastern Illinios…made 18 receptions for 175 yards…recorded a season-high six catches for 54 yards against the Govs and four receptions for 56 yards the week before against Tennessee Tech…hauled in a 32-yard pass in the FCS Playoffs against Sam Houston State.

2014: Played in 11 of the Gamecocks’ 12 games as a sophomore and was on the field to start the game twice…was fourth on the team with 24 catches for 296 yards, while catching three touchdown passes…averaged 26.9 yards per game and 12.3 yards per catch…against Tennessee Tech on Oct. 25, caught four passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns, hauling in scoring passes of 17 and 28 yards from Christian LeMay…his other touchdown catch came against UT Martin on Oct. 4, when he was on the receiving end of a 34-yard scoring strike from Max Shortell…caught four passes for a season-high 74 yards in the second round of the FCS Playoffs against Sam Houston State…caught one pass for 23 yards in the season opener at Michigan State…caught four passes in a game three times, vs. TTU, SHSU and at Murray State on Sept. 27.

2013: Appeared in all 15 games for the Gamecocks as a true freshman, earning the start in four…finished second on the team with 35 catches and third with 416 receiving yards, while leading the team with four touchdown catches…hauled in his first career touchdown catch in his debut in the Aug. 31 season opener at Alabama State, a 23-yard pass from Max Shortell to give JSU its first lead of the game…had a season-high 89 receiving yards on five catches at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 26, including a 26-yard touchdown pass from Kyle West…also had touchdown catches at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 16 and at Eastern Washington in the Quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs…had a season-high six catches against North Alabama on Sept. 14.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter for head coach Brent Hubbert at Maplesville High School in Maplesville, Ala…helped the Red Devils to region titles in each of his last three seasons and a combined 28-1 region record in his four-year career…started on both sides of the ball in all 51 games of his career…was named the team’s MVP and captain as a senior in 2012, when he also garnered all-state accolades…a three-time all-region performer, hauled in 120 catches for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns in his career, while picking up 289 tackles, 25 for a loss, 10 sacks, 11 interceptions, seven forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries on defense…as a senior in 2012, caught 50 passes for 945 yards and 12 touchdowns…named Montgomery Quarterback Club Player of the Week after a 41-21 win over St. Lukes in the second round of the 2012 AHSAA Playoffs…was the only Class 1A player on the Alabama roster in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game in 2012…rated a three-star recruit by 247sports.com…also played basketball for the Red Devils and averaged more than 20 points per game in 2012.

PERSONAL: Full name is Anthony LuGene Johnson…son of Audra Childers…born on January 26, 1995…has two brothers, Keon and Tyrone, and three sisters, Ebony, Tydasia and Shay…sister, Ebony Childers, played basketball at Wallace Community College…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
