JSU CAREER 2018: Played in 33 games in his first season on the diamond with the Gamecocks, including 20 starts as a redshirt freshman…made his first career start against Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois on March 18…registered his first hit and RBI as a Gamecock in that Sunday contest…turned in a 2-for-3 outing in midweek action against Alabama State on April 17…collected his first extra base hit versus Murray State in the second game of a twinbill…added an RBI against hometown foe Alabama on May 8…finished the season with 13 hits and five RBI…issued 10 walks and recorded a stolen base against Belmont on April 21.
(2017): Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at American Christian Academy…mentored by Eric DuBose, who was drafted by Oakland Athletics out of Mississippi State in 1997…tabbed to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A All-State Team in 2015 and 2016…member of the First Team as a junior after posting a .468 average at the plate…received honorable mention AWSA honors after leading ACA to Class 3A State finals and finishing with a 32-7 overall mark…member of the Tuscaloosa News Super 9…was tabbed the club’s Defensive Player of the Year as a senior…hit over .400 all four years at ACA and accumulated 83 steals in four seasons as a Patriot…led ACA in runs scored as a sophomore and senior….also played football for the Patriots and participated in track and field…led ACA to 10-2 record in 2015…named an ASWA Second Team in 2015 and 2014 on the defensive side of the ball…registered 61 tackles and collected four touchdowns and two interceptions in 2015…also an all-state honoree in track and field with top performances in the 60 meter dash and the long jump…was an honor student at ACA and was a member of the National Honors Society and the National Junior Society.
PERSONAL: Born on August 1, 1997 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama…the son of Stewart and Amy Atkins…father Stuart played baseball at Auburn in 1990…majoring in exercise science at JSU.
