2011: Played in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a junior, earning the starting nod in the defensive backfield in the first seven, while also serving as the team’s holder…served as a team captain…totaled 29 tackles on the season, 27 of which were solo…recovered one fumble and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown against Austin Peay on Oct. 15…had one pass break-up against Georgia State on Sept. 17…picked up a season-best six tackles twice, vs. UT Martin on Sept. 1 and at Murray State on Oct. 1.
2010: Appeared in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a sophomore and earned his first career start in the defensive backfield against Murray State on Oct. 2…was a key member of the Gamecocks’ special teams unit, serving as the team’s holder…finished the year with 17 tackles, 12 solo and one interception, a pick against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 25…saw action on the special teams unit in the season opener at Ole Miss...played on special teams vs UTC and Georgia State...secured the JSU win over Eastern Illinois with his first career interception in the closing seconds at EIU...also turned in a tackle at EIU...finished with four stops in his first career start in the secondary against Murray State...carded a pair of tackles against UT Martin...made two solo stops against Tennessee State...credited with a tackle at Tennessee Tech.
2009: Saw action in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a redshirt freshman, mostly on special teams…did see limited action on offense…made his Gamecock debut as a reserve quarterback against Georgia Tech (9/5), catching a touchdown pass from Marques Ivory...recovered a fumble on special teams against Florida State (9/12)...saw action on special teams, recording one tackle on the kickoff cover team against Alabama A&M (9/19)...had a pair of tackles on special teams in the season finale vs. Eastern Kentucky (11/21).
2008: Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Opelika High School for Spence McCracken…was a four-year lettermen…passed for more than 1,200 yards as a senior after leading the Bulldogs to a 9-3 record and into the second round of the state playoffs…passed for more than 2,300 yards in his career…named the Opelika-Auburn News Player of the Week and the WSFA Player of the Week once…also lettered in baseball, where his team finished 42-4 and was the state runner-up in 2008…was an honor student.
PERSONAL: Full name is Phillip Brooks Robinson…son of Phil and Cindy Robinson…has one older sister, Tiffany…born on May 4, 1990…his father, Phil, is a NBA referee…majoring in technology at JSU.
