Biography
JSU CAREER:
(2015) The only player on the roster to play in all 57 games as a junior…made 49 starts at first base…finished the season with a .270 batting average with 54 in in 2008 at bats…scored 40 runs and drove in 39…led the Gamecocks with 53 total walks, which set a new single season record for free passes…he surpassed John Thomas Clark, who set a mark of 48 walks in a season in the 1995 campaign…led the Ohio Valley Conference in walks per game (0.93)…credited with a season-high three walks on three occasions against Kennesaw State (2/20/15) and at Austin Peay (3/16/15) and against UAB (5/12/15)…recorded 18 multiple hit games, including a four RBI outing against Youngstown State (2/14/15) on a pair of hits…belted six home runs with four coming in OVC play…turned in a pair of doubles against Belmont (4/26/15) to help JSU complete a three-game sweep of the Bruins…finished the season with a slugging percentage of .405 and an on-base mark of .421.
(2014): A 44-game starter at first base for the Gamecocks…saw action in 52 games…ranked among the team leaders in doubles with 11…finished the season batting .286 along with a slugging mark of .460…led the club in walks with 31…finished the year with five home runs, including a pair of round trippers ay Morehead State (5/15)…posted 11 multi-hit games, including a season-best four-hit game against Eastern Illinois in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament…also drove in a season-high four runs in JSU’s win over EIU…earned a trio of walks in the second game of the Morehead State series (5/16)…credited with a triple in the SIU Edwardsville contest in the OVC Tournament (5/22)…finished the OVC Tournament 10-of-27 and a .370 mark at the plate in the seven games…went to the plate seven times in JSU’s extra inning contest with Kennesaw State (3/2).
(2013): Appeared in 28 games, making 20 starts at first base in 2013…finished the season batting .188 with 13 hits, one home run, one triple and three doubles…drove in 10 runs and score nine runs…made his first career start at first base against Kennesaw State on Feb. 15 and also recorded his first career hit…appeared in 10 conference games and made six starts…finished with a .286 average against conference opponents with eight hits, three doubles, one home run, eight RBI and six runs scored…went 3-for-5 with two doubles and his first career home run while driving in three runs against UT Martin (3/9)…had two hits, including a triple against Charleston Southern (3/2) and again against SIUE (3/15).
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Pat Hamrick at Thompson High School…was a five-year letterman…finished his senior season with a .325 batting average with five home runs and 50 RBI…also lettered in football where he was an all-area selection as a senior.
PERSONAL: Full name is Tyler Gamble…son of Mark and Susie Gamble…born on December 3, 1993…has one older sister, Beth Register….his brother-in-law, Steven Register, played baseball at Auburn and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2004…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite Major League team and Martin Prado his favorite player…major is undecided at JSU.
