JSU CAREER
(2015): Made the transition to from the junior college ranks with nine appearances on the mound inhis first season at Jax State…was valuable in the midweek with four starts and pitched 22.1 innings on the year…made his Gamecock debut during the opening weekend of the season against Youngstown State (2/14/15)...nearly posted a no-hitter against Troy (3/24/15) with 8.1 innings without giving up a hit…struck out four in the outing and allowed one hit…earned the starting nod against Alabama State (4/15/15) and at Southeast Missouri (4/18/15).Â
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Comes to JSU after one season of junior college baseball at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama…played for Randy Puttman at WSCC.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Plainview High School in Rainsville, Alabama…played for Jeff Brooks at PHS…named the AHSAA Class 3A Player of the Year as a senior in 2013…a two-time Dekalb County Player of the Year selection in as a junior and senior…named to the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association Super All-State squad in 2013…tossed five no hitters throughout his high school career and one perfect game on the mound…posted over 100 strikeouts at PHS…helped lead the Bears of PHS to four consecutive Dekalb County Championships…led PHS to over 100 wins in a three-year span.
PERSONAL: Full name is Colton Campbell…born on August 17, 1994 in Fort Payne, Alabama…is the son of Mark and Tamala Campbell…majoring in business at JSU…has an older brother, Dex…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite Major League Baseball team.
