2010 OUTLOOK:
Stepped forward a year ago in the bullpen after the team lost Alex Jones, and did an outstanding job…earned All-Conference honors as the league’s top closer last year...expected to help add depth to what should be a very good bullpen this year.

SUMMER BASEBALL: Played for East Alabama Big Train of the Great South League in 2009.

JSU CAREER: (2009) As a junior, was named first-team All-OVC as a relief pitcher after leading the conference with a JSU school record nine saves…made 20 appearances, posting a 2-3 record with nine saves and a 2.10 ERA…tossed 25.2 innings, allowing 26 hits, six earned runs with 21 strike-outs to just nine walks…finished the season ranked 37th nationally in saves…allowed just one hit vs conference opponents during the regular-season…earned his first save at UAB on 3/3, allowing two hits and recording four strikeouts in 2.0 innings of relief…also earned saves against Harvard (3/7), Murray State (3/21), Austin Peay (3/28), Southeast Missouri (4/4), Southern Ililinois (4/11) and Georgia (4/22)…had two-or more strikeouts in six appearances, with a career-high four at UAB (3/3)…picked up his first win of the year vs Indiana on 3/15…got his second win as the Gamecocks plated eight runs in the top of the ninth inning at No. 6 Georgia on 4/29, as he pitched 2.0 innings of hitless relief…allowed his only hit in OVC regular-season play at Tennessee Tech on 5/9.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played for Randy Putman at Wallace State in Hanceville from 2007-08…finished his freshman season with a .252 batting average after playing in 44 games…added 10 doubles, one home run and 17 RBI…made three appearances on the mound, but did not earn a decision…batted .300 as a sophomore, with seven doubles, one triple, three homeruns and 34 RBI.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Tommy Youngblood at Oak Mountain High School…played for six seasons…earned second-team All-State and was named team’s Most Valuable Player in 2004…finished his career with a .380 batting average…also lettered in football, where he was a two-time first-team All-Region selection.

PERSONAL: Full name is Bill Henke…born on November 6, 1987…son of Bill and Luanne Henke…has one younger brother, Garrett…lists the New York Mets as his favorite team and Ken Griffey, Jr., as his favorite player…major in Business at JSU.
