SUMMER LEAGUE: Played for the Paradise Alliance of the Hawaii Collegiate League in Waipahu, Hawaii…coached by Chad and Jimmy Itokazu…was selected to the All-Star team.
JSU CAREER:
(2011): As a junior, played in 42 games with 29 starts…finished the season batting .277, with four doubles and three home runs and 18 RBI…made his first JSU start on March 4 vs Harvard…went 3-for-5 vs Indiana on 3/15…drove in two runs with a pair of hits vs Bradley on 3/16…was 2-for-3 with three RBI and his first Gamecock home run vs UTM on 3/26…was 2-for-4 with a home run at Murray State on 4/10…also had a homer vs SIU Edwardsville on 4/30…batted .343 with runners in scoring position…had eight multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI games.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played at Yuba College for Tim Gloyd…was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman after batting .438 with three home runs and 32 RBI…was an All-State and All-District selection…batted .336 with six home runs and 53 RBI as a sophomore.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played Galena High School for Gary MacNamara and Tom Flynn…was a first-team All-Conference selection as a senior after batting .483 with three home runs…helped the Grizzlies to a 32-4 record his junior season as team finished second in the State Playoffs and posted a final ranking of No. 25 by Baseball America…also lettered in football, where he was a first-team Academic All-State selection…football team finished was state runner-up his junior year…was an honor student.
PERSONAL: Full name is Scott Arthur Underwood…son of Dave Underwood and Jeanne Underwood…born on September 25, 1989…has a twin brother, Erik, who also plays baseball for the Gamecocks…lists Albert Pujols as his favorite Major League Baseball player…majoring in liberal studies at JSU.
