Biography

JSU FOOTBALL CAREER: Played two years as back-up quarterback on the football team for Jack Crowe …helped the Gamecocks post 15-8 record over the last two seasons, including an Ohio Valley Conference Championship (2011) and into the second rounds of the NCAA Playoffs (2010)…transferred to the Gamecocks from Alabama, where he was a member of the 2009 National Championship team…while at Alabama, he earned the Bear Bryant Scholarship for Most Outstanding Player during the A-Day Spring Game.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Newnan High School for Kenny Morris…was named County Player of the Year…was a first-team All-Region selection as a senior and junior…posted a 12-4 record on the mound as a senior, with a 2.52 earned run average…tossed a two-hitter against Walton High School in a 2-0 Cougar win with 11 strikeouts…also quarterbacked the Cougar football team for three years as a starter…also played four years in basketball, where he averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds as a senior.
 
PERSONAL: Full name is John Thomas Darrah, III…born on August 5, 1988…son of Tommy and Becky Darrah…has two sisters, Megan and Mackenzie…his sister, Megan, played basketball at Georgia, where she was a four-year starter…his father, Tommy, played basketball at LaGrange College…his grandfather, Tom Darrah, played basketball at Austin Peay…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite Major League Baseball team…lists Cal Ripkin, Jr., as his favorite Major League Baseball player…majoring in Sociology at Jacksonville State and will graduate in May of 2012.
