2008: Battled midseason injuries limiting him to six games….started the season opener against Georgia Tech (8/28)… tallied 11 tackles, four solos, with one pass breakup… registered a season-high three tackles versus Georgia Tech and had two tackles against Alabama A&M (9/6), Austin Peay (11/1) and Tennessee Tech (11/8)…recorded a pass breakup against Chattanooga (9/20).

2007: Sat out the season as a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Enterprise High School for Kevin Collins…finished with 95 tackles, eight sacks one safety and six pass breakups as a senior…had his best game with 15 tackles, three quarterback hurries, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery versus Bainbridge (Ga.) his senior year…earned team MVP Defensive honors in 2006…named to the Dothan Eagle Super 12 and was the Southeast Sun Defensive Player of the Year…finished his career with more than 335 tackles and set high school record with 20 sacks…was an honor student.

PERSONAL: Full name is Rylee Zalanka…son of Robert and Tiffanie Zalanka…born on February 13, 1989…has one brother, Brodie…his father, Robert, played football the University of Wyoming and was signed by JSU head coach Jack Crowe…mother, Tiffanie, ran track at the University of Wyoming…majoring in English.
