2012: Saw action in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a junior, earning the starting nod on Oct. 20 vs. Tennessee State…recorded 30 tackles, 22 of which were solo…had three tackles for a loss, one sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and two pass break-ups…opened the season with five tackles, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry at Arkansas on Sept. 1…had five tackles again on Sept. 29 vs. Southeast Missouri…at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 6, had three tackles, one sack and an interception…had four stops, all solo vs. TSU on Oct. 20.
2011: Appeared in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a sophomore…notched 14 tackles, nine solo, including one for a loss…opened the season with two solo stops and a tackle for a loss of three yards against UT Martin on Sept. 1…notched a season-high four tackles vs. Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 5…had three stops at Murray State on Oct. 1 and two tackles three times.
2010: Appeared in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a redshirt freshman and earned the start at linebacker in the regular-season finale at Tennessee Tech…finished the year with 29 tackles, 24 solo, including two for a loss…notched a season-high 10 stops, all solo and one for a loss, on Oct. 2 against Murray State…recorded five tackles in that start at Tennessee Tech…picked up four against Austin Peay on Oct. 23.
2009: Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Anniston High School for Alex Wilson…was a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs.
PERSONAL: Full name is Brenton Antonio Quintez Tolson, Sr…son of Erica Tolson…born on March 24, 1991, in Anniston, Ala…has one younger brother, Mauriceco and two sisters, Shamika and Jessica…has a one-year-old son, Brenton, Jr…majoring in criminal justice at JSU.
