JSU CAREER:
2012: Played in nine of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a junior, starting two on the defensive front…recorded 13 tackles and broke up one pass on the year…had a pair of stops in the season opener at Arkansas on Sept. 1…made a season-high five tackles in a Sept. 29 win over Southeast Missouri…one week later at Tennessee Tech, made two tackles and recorded a pass break-up.
2011: Appeared in all 11 games for the Gamecocks…made nine tackles, seven solo and one for a loss…had a season-high three stops at Chattanooga on Sept. 10…recorded his lone tackle behind the line of scrimmage on Oct. 15 at Austin Peay…blocked a punt attempt against Georgia State on Sept. 17 that was recovered for a JSU touchdown.
2010: One game as a freshman, recording six tackles vs. Austin Peay on Oct. 23.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Chamblee Charter High School in Atlanta, Ga…played for Brent Miller at CCHS…named Second Team all-region as a senior and selected to the North Georgia All-Star squad after his senior season…helped the CCHS Bulldogs to 25 wins over three seasons…tabbed the team’s Rookie of the Year as a sophomore and defensive honors as a freshman…also participated in track and field on the prep level…earned all-district and all-state First Team honors on the track as a junior and senior…named a Student of Distinction by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
PERSONAL: Full name is Barry Lee Stafford, Jr…son of Barry Lee Stafford, Sr. and Michelle Gary…born on March 6, 1991, in Atlanta, Ga…has six brothers, Jeremy, Jared, Brandon, Courtland, D.J. and Jaydon, and two sisters, Tracie and Brooke…majoring in physical education at JSU.
