JSU CAREER
2014:
Started the first nine games of his junior season before a knee injury against Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 8 forced him to miss the Gamecocks’ final three games…despite playing in just nine games, still made enough of an impact to earn First Team All-OVC honors and Third Team All-America honors from The Sports Network…also an Academic All-District pick by CoSIDA…had 36 tackles, while tying for the team lead and for second in the OVC with four interceptions…led the league in interceptions per game and in passes defended per game…recorded 24 solo tackles and 12 assisted stops, while picking up four tackles for a loss…had two interceptions in a win over Tennessee State on Oct. 11, a game that also saw him record five tackles and earn OVC and National Defensive Player of the Week honors…had a season-high eight tackles at Michigan State in the Aug. 19 opener and had seven at Murray State on Sept. 27…was credited with seven pass break-ups and 11 passed defended…had a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown in JSU’s Sept. 20 win over West Alabama.

2013: Started all 15 games at cornerback for the Gamecocks as a sophomore, joining Rashod Byers as the team’s starting corners in every game…recorded 51 tackles, 37 solo, forced a fumble and defended eight passes, intercepting one…recorded at least one tackle in every game, including nine twice: at Alabama State on Aug. 31 and at UT Martin on Oct. 5…had seven solo stops in each of those games…also recorded his interception at UTM, one he returned 18 yards…had a sack, two pass break-ups and forced a fumble at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 26…picked up five tackles and a sack in the NCAA Quarterfinal game at Eastern Washington on Dec. 14…had 3.5 tackles for a loss on the year.

2012: Played in all 11 games as a true freshman for the Gamecocks and started in the defensive backfield in the final seven…finished the year with 42 tackles, 24 solo, and led the team with three interceptions to earn Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team honors…was second on the squad with eight passes broken up and also notched a quarterback hurry…made his first career start on Oct. 6 at Tennessee Tech and then followed with a stretch of impressive play…racked up a season-high 10 tackles and broke up two passes the next week at Eastern Illinois…the next week, vs. Tennessee State on Oct. 20, earned Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week after intercepting two passes, one in the first and one in the fourth quarter of a JSU win….became the first JSU player to pick off two passes in a game since T.J. Heath in 2009…had eight tackles and an interception one week later vs. Murray State…broke up a season-high four passes on Nov. 3 at UT Martin.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Al Hughes at Lovejoy High School…was a four-year letterman…first-team all-state selection in 2011…named the 4A Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 79 tackles and seven interceptions as a senior…helped anchor a defense that allowed only 4.9 points per game in 2011…named the Player of the Year by Atlanta Journal-Constitution…named Clayton News Daily Player of the Year…honor student with a 3.8 GPA…National Honor Student at LHS.

PERSONAL: Full name is Jermaine Marcell Hough, Jr.…born July 13, 1994, in Decatur, Ga…son of Jermaine, Sr. and Charity Hough…has an older brother, Lamarcus, and an older sister, Paris…majoring in exercise science at JSU.
