JSU CAREER
2014:
Served as the Gamecocks punter in all 12 games as a junior and was the First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference punter…punted 55 times for a 39.1 yard average, but only 15 of those were returned for an average of just 6.3 yards per return…pinned 16 punts inside the 20 with only four touchbacks…booted six punts over 50 yards, including a 58-yarder against UT Martin on Oct. 4…was named the OVC’s Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 26 after averaging 50.5 yards per punt in a 49-3 win over Tennessee Tech…pinned multiple punts inside the 20 in seven games…had at least one 50-yard punt in five games…forced a season-high six fair catches twice – on seven punts vs. UTM and on eight punts vs. Eastern Illinois on Nov. 15…served as the team’s holder on placekicks. 

2013: Served as the Gamecocks’ punter in all 15 games as a sophomore…tied for 15th nationally with a 42.9 average on 73 punts…booted an 86-yard punt at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 26, tying Weber State’s Tony Epperson for the longest in FCS in 2013 and breaking the school record for longest punt…had a 68-yard punt against Samford in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Nov. 30, which is tied for the seventh-longest punt in school history…his 3,133 punting yards were the third-most in a season in JSU history, while his 73 punts were fourth in school history…had 18 punts of 50 or more yards and pinned 19 inside the 20…opponents returned just 24 of his 73 punts and only eight went into the end zone…had at least one 50-yard punt in eight games and had multiple 50-yarders six times…booted four punts of 50 yards or longer in the season opener at Alabama State on Aug. 31…pinned three punts inside the 20 three times…also served as the team’s holder on placekicks.

2012: Played in all 11 games as a true freshman for the Gamecocks, serving as the team’s primary punter for the final 10 games…put on American Football pads for the first time in fall practice and made his first appearance in an American Football game, at any level, at Arkansas on Sept. 1…his first punt went 37 yards at the 7:25 mark of the second quarter at Arkansas…the very next week he averaged 43.6 yards on five punts in a win over Chattanooga, including two that were longer than 50 yards and one inside of the 20…pinned at least one punt inside of the 20 in all but one game and had nine punts of 50 yards or more, including a season-long 55 yarder vs. Southeast Missouri on Sept. 29…on the year, punted 49 times for 1,927 yards and an average of 39.3 yards per punt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Ballarat Grammer School in Victoria, Australia…A 2012 National Event Punt Finalist and attended the Chris Sailer Kicking Camp…rated as the most consistent punter at the camp…played Australia rules football and rugby…averaged better than 45 yards per punt with a 4.75 hang time at a camp…Team Most Valuable Player in 2010 and 2011…also participated in track and earned First Team honors in 2008 and 2009…held a 3.9 grade point average in high school.

PERSONAL: Full name is Hamish John MacInnes…born Nov. 14, 1993, in Melbourne, Australia…son of Sue Cabassi and Don MacInnes…has two younger brothers, Alister and William…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
