JSU CAREER:
2018: Started all 13 games in his redshirt Junior year as a Gamecock receiver…named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press, STATS and Phil Steele and a Second Team All-American by HERO Sports…was named the 2019 OVC Steve Hamilton Sportsmanship Award given to the OVC athlete who exemplifies significant athletic performances as well as good sportsmanship and citizenship…led the team in all receiving categories, making 67 catches for 1,123 yards with a long of 75 and 17 touchdowns…averaged 17 yards a catch and 86 yards per game for the 2019 season…ranks first in JSU history for career receptions per game with 4.79 as well as a single season record for receiving touchdowns with 17, which also led all FBS and FCS players in 2018…ranks second in JSU history in pass reception yards (1123) and pass receptions (67) in a single season…his longest catch on the year came on a 75-yard sprint for a touchdown on Sept. 8 against Mississippi Valley State…twice he recorded three touchdowns in one game against Eastern Illinois on Oct. 13 and against Murray State on Oct. 27…on eight different occasions he picked up at least five receptions, recording eight against North Carolina A&T on Aug. 25 and again on Oct. 13 against Eastern Illinois…managed to record two tackles, one unassisted against UT-Martin on Nov. 3 and one assisted on Nov. 24 against East Tennessee State in the 2018 FCS Playoffs.
2017: Appeared in one game, making his NCAA debut Nov. 16 vs. Tennessee State.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered four years for head coach Jeremy Perkins at Austin High School in Decatur, Ala…named offensive player of the year his senior season…elected to the all-state team in his final year…led the Black Bears to the AHSAA Playoffs his sophomore season…holds Austin High School’s record for the power clean at 285 and snatch at 215.
PERSONAL: Born June 13, 1997…son of Harold Pearson and Kristie Cater…has one brother; Jacob Jones, and three sisters; Christy Sanders, Shell Pearson and Akeli Carter…majoring in exercise science and wellness.Akeli Carter…majoring in exercise science and wellness.
