JSU CAREER:
2013: Was the team’s starting tailback in all 15 games in his junior season…a First Team All-OVC and All-America honoree after a record-breaking year in the JSU backfield…set JSU and OVC records for rushing touchdowns in a season with 29, also setting the OVC and JSU records for points scored in a season with 174…carried the ball 292 times (2nd in school history) for a school-record 1,477 yards, which was the eighth-most in FCS in 2013…finished the season second in the nation with 29 rushing TDs and 11.6 points per game…had eight 100-yard rushing games, including teaming with Troymaine Pope, Eli Jenkins and Miles Jones vs. Jacksonville on Sept. 7 to become the first foursome to run for 100 yards in the same game in FCS history…ran for 206 yards (4th in school history) on 35 carries (3rd in school history) vs. Southeast Missouri on Nov. 23…ran for a school-record five touchdowns at Austin Peay on Nov. 2, tying the OVC single-game record and earning OVC Player of the Week honors…was also named OVC Player of the Week on Oct. 6 after running for 184 yards and three scores at UT Martin…one week prior, ran for 189 yards and three touchdowns vs. Murray State…scored three touchdowns in a game five times, including three-straight weeks from Sept. 21-Oct. 5…ran for a touchdown in 13 of his 15 games, including at least one in each of his last 12 games…scored a total of six rushing touchdowns in JSU’s three FCS Playoff games…had a season-high 31 receiving yards on four catches vs. Murray State.
2012: Played in nine games for the Gamecocks as a sophomore starting in the offensive backfield in six of them…led the Gamecocks in rushing yards with 867 on 143 carries…averaged a team-best 6.1 yards per carry and ran for six touchdowns while catching one TD pass…ran for more than 100 yards in five games, including two 149-yard performances…ran for 149 yards and a season-high two touchdowns on 21 carries on Sept. 29 vs. Southeast Missouri and then carried just 13 times for 149 yards and a score vs. Austin Peay on Nov. 10…had 16 carries for 120 yards vs. Chattanooga in the Sept. 8 home opener, a game that also saw him catch a 30-yard touchdown pass from Coty Blanchard…ran for 130 yards and a score on a season-high 28 carries at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 6…had 128 yards on 22 rushes at UT Martin on Nov. 3.
2011: Played in eight games for the Gamecocks as a true freshman, serving as a backup at the running back position…carried the ball 13 times for 59 yards and caught one pass for two yards…made his collegiate debut in the season opener vs. UT Martin on Sept. 1, when he ran for two yards on one rush and caught a two-yard pass…ran nine times for 48 yards at Austin Peay on Oct. 15, including a season-long 14-yard scamper…had three rushed for nine yards vs. Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 5.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Tom Causey at Demopolis High School…was a four-year letterman…was a first-team all-state selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…rushed for 1,828 yards as a senior and had his best game of the year with 328 yards on 25 carries in 2010…set a Class 5A state finals record with 293 yards rushing on 42 carries as a junior…finished his career with 6,956 rushing yards…named team Most Valuable Player and Back of the Year.
PERSONAL: Full name is DaMarcus Javier James…born on Oct. 1, 1992, in Demopolis, Ala…the son of Ronnie Aldridge and Tracy James…has one brother, Jamarcus Alvis, and two sisters, Shaniqua and Zankan Aldridge…is majoring in criminal justice at JSU.
