JSU CAREER:
2013: Named a preseason First Team All-American by The Sports Network…played a total of 1138 snaps and posted the highest grade on the offensive line at just over 87 percent for the 2013 season en route to earning First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors…as anchor of the Jax State offensive line, he helped the offense rank among the conference leaders in scoring, total offense and rushing offense…the Gamecocks led the league in rushing offense and posted an OVC-best 48 rushing touchdowns…JSU averaged 239.1 rushing yards per game to rank 12th nationally…enters the 2014 season with 37 consecutive starts at center.
2012: A mainstay on the JSU offensive line at center with 11 starts under his belt as a sophomore…helped the Gamecocks’ ground attack finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 191 yards per game…Jax State ranked second in the OVC against conference foes with 217 yards rushing per game and a 4.6 yards per carry mark in conference match ups.
2011: Started all 11 games at center on the JSU offensive line and was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team as a redshirt freshman…played 790 plays and graded out at 91 percent on the season…finished with 68 knockdowns and 13 pancake blocks.
2010: Sat out the season as a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Hillcrest High School for Johnny Wright…was team captain as a senior after helping team to a 7-4 record…was a three-year letterman, posting a career 21-9 record…was named to the Tuscaloosa News All-Star team…an honor student…named Who’s Who Among American High School Students…Ambassador for school…member of the BETA club.
PERSONAL: Full name is Maxwell Cooper Holcombe…son of Danny and Kendra Holcombe…born on December 10, 1991, in Tuscaloosa, Ala…has a younger brother, Keith, who is a freshman linebacker at the University of Alabama…father, Danny, played football at Alabama from 1979-82…majoring in exercise science at JSU.
